  Although I was able to type in all of the names in the Biographical Record by myself, typing in biographies is an arduous task. Consequently, I'm extremely thankful for my three volunteer transcribers: Sandra Königmacher, Linda Peterson, and my wife Danielle. (Besides typing some entries in, Danielle has spent dozens of hours helping me proofread.)

• Great information online:
  • Information about name and boundary changes of towns and cities in Massachusetts was extracted from John Chandler's list.
  • Information about the relative locations of towns in Massachusetts, barring a better map, was gleaned using the Secretary of State's fantastic PDF map of Massachusetts town and county boundaries. (Check the website for other great PDF maps of Massachusetts.)
  • Information about Connecticut towns, their establishment dates and towns be found at this table. (Initially I had used a table at the Connecticut State Library that no longer seems to exist.)

  • Maps showing county boundaries in the U. S. mainly came from a nice website of census information at Oregon State University. It has also been removed from the web, so how about this link, the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries?
