Truro was established in 1709, and is located in Barnstable County.  It traded land with Provincetown in 1714, and gave land to Provincetown in 1813, 1829, and 1836.

It is bordered on the northwest by Provincetown, on the south by Wellfleet, on the west by Cape Cod Bay, and on the east by the Atlantic Ocean.
