Malden was established in 1649. Its parent town was Charlestown. It is the "parent" of two towns: Melrose (1850) and Everett (1870). It gave land to Reading in 1727, Stoneham in 1734, and Medford in 1817. It received land from Medford in 1877 and 1910.
Malden is bounded on the north by Melrose, on the east by Revere, on the south by Everett, and on
the west by Medford.
